Volunteer inductions are required to start volunteering, going through the basic tasks of staffing the shop, as well as the necessary health and safety information. Inductions are generally run on-shift when there are at least two experienced co-operators staffing the shop.
Available induction times are listed on the wall in the Co-op, and you can ask in the shop about putting your name down for any suitable time on that sheet.
During an induction, you will start volunteering alongside another experienced volunteer or staff member. Then you can put your name on the roster for shifts. At first, you will put your name down alongside someone else who knows what they’re doing, and in time you will learn all the things that were briefly touched on in your induction, and when you’re ready you can start putting your name down in empty shifts.
